Two men shot in apparent gang-related incident in Pilsen.

Posted on in Criminal Defense

In what the Chicago Police Department is calling a gang-related incident, two men were shot and killed in the South-Side neighborhood of Pilsen.  The incident happened early on Monday morning, at 12:40 am.

Police have not released the identity of the men, aged 26 and 27 years old.  According to Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala, the two were sitting on the front steps of the 2200 block of South Leavett avenue just past midnight on Monday when an unidentified man approached on foot and shot both of them.

Zala reports that the 26 year old victim was shot in the head and was found dead on the scene.  The 27 year old victim was shot in the abdomen.  He was transported to a local hospital where he later died of his injury.

Prior to the shooting, the men were outside eating tacos when two unidentified men approached them and asked to buy marijuana from them.  According to police reports, the two men then shot the victims, fatally wounding each of them.  The victim shot in the head died on the stairs, while the victim injured in the abdomen managed to get inside where he collapsed in the kitchen of the home.

There are unconfirmed reports that the wife of one of the victims called police to report the shooting.

Police report that they have no suspects at this time.  If you have been the victim of a shooting or are currently being charged with assault, you need a qualified criminal defense lawyer to handle your case.  If your loved one has been charged with a crime, call for a knowledgeable DuPage County criminal defense attorney as soon as possible to ensure that your loved one receives fair legal representation.
